Bobcats, Indians Meet in First Round of Region

While the Cedar Run and Cardinal District tournaments will have their finals tonight, the Northwest Region basketball tournaments already have their brackets’ set.

With the Ceder Run and Cardinal District matching up against each other in the first round, the Gar-Field Indians, the No. 1 seed from the Cardinal District will host the Battlefield Bobcats, the Cedar Run’s No. 2 seed, on Feb. 24. The C.D. Hylton Bulldogs, No. 2 from the Cardinal, will travel to Fauquier to face the top-ranked Falcons from the Cedar Run. Both games will start at 7 p.m. The Semifinals will be hosted at the higher seed on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m., while the finals are set for Saturday, Feb. 28 at a site to be determined. Other first round matchups include No. 1 Stafford from the Commonwealth District taking on No. 2 William Fleming from the Western Valley Disrict and No. 1 George Washington from the Western Valley going up against No. 2 Mountain View from the Commonwealth.
The girls’ side will feature the top-ranked Forest Park Bruins going up against No. 2 Osbourn Park in the first round and Stonewall Jackson, the Cedar Run’s top squad, taking on No. 2 Woodbridge from the Cardinal.
